OWE Association Meeting

The OWE association meeting will be this Tuesday at 7 PM, either at Flamb-OWE-nce Community House (2492 Scottwood) or on Zoom (link below).

With a recent uptick in crime in the neighborhood, The OWEA wants to hear from you. How do we talk about safety in our community? How can we as neighbors take steps to keep each other safe? Join the conversation with us!

Our guiding questions will be:

  • What's been happening around you and what are you most concerned about?

  • What do we still want to know? (We can ask for our Security Committee to follow-up on the questions we raise)

  • What can we do as a neighborhood to address our concerns?

Angel Tucker, newly appointed Deputy Safety Director, will spend a few minutes talking about some of the Mayor's plans to address violence and then join the conversation with us about what we're seeing around us and what we can be doing to respond and to keep each other safe.

Angel has been tasked by the Mayor along with former Fire Chief Brian Byrd and the violence interrupters to reduce gun violence in our city. He grew up in the Old West End, and still has family here. Angel also helped to organize a community panel discussion on the roots of crime in partnership with Old West End Neighborhood Initiatives (OWENI) back in 2018.

Snacks provided! Masks required for all in-person attendees.
